The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites online applications for the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2026. This prestigious exam recruits candidates into various engineering services under the Government of India in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering disciplines.   • Create a Universal Registration Number (URN) by registering once.
  • Fill in the Common Application Form (CAF) including personal details and upload required documents.
  • Submit the examination specific form for ESE 2026 within the application window.
  • Pay the examination fee online (₹200 for general category; exemptions for SC/ST, PwBD, and female candidates).
  • Download and retain the application form and further communication details for exams.

Salary

Pay scale varies across services but generally includes Level 10 and above as per 7th CPC, starting from approximately ₹56,100/- per month (Entry Level) with various allowances and promotions.

Total Vacancy

Approximately 474 vacancies (expected), including reserved vacancies for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), SC/ST, OBC, and EWS categories. The vacancy distribution varies by service and engineering discipline.

Qualification

Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication) from a recognized Indian university or equivalent qualifications as specified by UPSC, including Institution Examinations and foreign degrees recognized by the Government of India.

Age Eligibility

  • Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years as of 1st January 2026 (born between 2nd January 1996 and 1st January 2005).
  • Age relaxations apply as per government norms for reserved categories, departmental candidates, and other specified groups.

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD: Up to 10 years (subject to conditions)
